Moving The Easy Way

I have never been one of those people who is naturally inclined to stay organized, but a few months ago I realized that I would need those skills if I was going to move successfully. I started focusing heavily on moving in an organized manner, and I started by getting rid of all of my belongings that I knew I wouldn't need. It took a lot of work, but by the time I cleaned things out, I knew that moving would be a snap. This blog is all about moving the easy way, leaving the mess behind, and being able to enjoy the journey.

Tips For Properly Storing Your Vehicle

by Kyle Hamilton

Before you place your vehicle in auto storage for an extended amount of time, you will want to make sure that you are doing everything you can in order to prepare it for storage. There is a lot more that needs done than simply driving to the to your auto storage location. For example, the following are some of the things you will want to do.

Wash The Exterior Of The Vehicle

Even though it might not seem as though it matters whether you wash the exterior of your vehicle before storing it, it does matter. Spots that have bird droppings, dirt, grease, tar, or oil can damage the paint job of the vehicle if they are left on for too long. Therefore, you are going to want to make sure that you are scrubbing the vehicle well to remove such things. Make sure that you are getting every spot that you can, even the wheel wells and the underside of the vehicle. To help you reach those hard to reach spots, you might want to take your vehicle to a quality automatic car wash, as they generally have brushes and sprays that can reach all over.

Change The Oil

Unless you have just had the oil changed in the vehicle, you will want to go ahead and have it changed. This is because you are not going to want old old to just sit in your vehicle, as it might become worse for wear and eventually damage your vehicle when you go to drive it again. Therefore, change the oil now before it goes back into storage and once again shortly after removing it from storage, just to be on the safe side.

Take The Tires Off

If you plan on leaving your vehicle in storage for an extended amount of time, you might want to think about removing the tires and placing it on jack stands until you are ready to remove it from storage. This is because flat spots can develop on the tires when the vehicle is left in one spot without ever being moved. By being proactive, you will be able to make sure that your tires will remain in good condition for later use.

With those tips in mind, along with other auto storage tips that you come across, you should have no trouble making sure that you are able to properly prepare your vehicle for storage.
